Route / Location

Potteberg is located near the De Hoop Nature Reserve.

• The best route from Cape Town is along the N2, through Caledon via the R316 to Bredasdorp. From Bredasdorp, follow the tarred R319 towards Swellendam. After  7 kilometres take the turnoff to your right marked De Hoop. Follow the gravel road for 38 km until you reach a fork, then keep left on the Infanta road. After 5 kilometres you will find Potteberg Guest Farm on your right.

  • From Swellendam go on the N2 towards Riversonderend.  After crossing the Breede River, about 3km outside Swellendam, turn left on the Malgas/Infanta road. Continue for 22 kilometres, then turn right at the Ouplaas/De Hoop sign.  After  12 kilometres you will intersect the Bredasdorp/Potberg road just east of Ouplaas. Turn left at the T-junction, and again left to Infanta where the road forks 5 kilometres further on.  After 5 kilometres you will find Potteberg Guest Farm on your right.

  • From Mosselbay:  Just after Heidelberg on the N2,  take the Witsand turnoff on your left for 2km. Then turn right on the gravel road towards Malgas. Just follow the Malgas signs and come over the Breede river with the ferry. From the ferry follow the road to a T-junction.  At the T-junction, turn to your right and after about 1km turn to your left towards De Hoop. From there it is 6km to the farm! Potteberg Guest Farm will be on your left.  (The ferry is open from sunrise to sunset.)
